Skateboard Giveaway Event

Your child has been awarded a free skateboard and helmet from Skate DSM’s Get on Board program.

You can pick up the equipment next Saturday, September 23 at Lauridsen Skatepark between 1pm and 2pm. This event will be part of the Des Moines Streetstyle Open, a major skateboarding event featuring some amazing pro and amateur skateboarders. So please stick around to watch the event!

Due to the Streetstyle Open the skatepark will be a little busy. So here are a few logistical items to ensure a smooth event.

In addition to the free helmet and skateboard, you’ll be able to:

• Get personalized, basic skateboarding instruction
• Watch pro and local skaters compete in a street contest
• Hang out with pro skateboarders from around the country
• And so much more!

Parking

You can park on the north side of the park on West River Dr. This street runs parallel to the dog park. We expect most event attendees to park there, so you may want to consider parking across the river on Robert D. Ray Dr. and walking across the women of achievement bridge and entering the park from the South.

Where to Find Us

There will be several vendor tents and food trucks at the event, including multiple Skate DSM tents. The skateboard giveaway will take place at the Skate DSM tent located in the middle of the park near the restrooms. Whether you arrive from the North or the south, walk along the trail to the restrooms and you will find us.
