Skate DSM is pleased to offer our first season of Skate Day Camp!

Day Camps

Camp runs daily (M-F) from 9:30am – 12:00pm

Students will be evaluated on the first day of camp to determine their skill level. This camp is for all skill levels and ages, whether you have little to no experience riding a skateboard or are ready to learn kick flips.

Please drop students off between 9am and 9:30. Camp will start promptly at 9:30am.

All ages are welcome. All students will need a quality skateboard, a helmet, and a refillable water bottle. Other pads (knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards) are recommended. All students are required to sign a waiver prior to the start of camp.

A limited number of skateboards and helmets are available for students who need them, but please let us know in advance so we can ensure we have enough equipment.

Cost $185 per student.

REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

Advance registration is required and is first come, first serve. Parents will be able to register their skater(s) at the links above.

All skaters will be required to sign a liability waiver and a standard photo and video release form allowing Skate DSM to use photos and video taken at the clinic for promotional purposes. A parent or guardian must be present at the clinic for any skater under age 12.

ALL CLINIC PARTICIPANTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A HELMET.

We strongly recommend investing in a quality skateboard for your child. Longboards, penny boards, and cruisers can make it difficult for your child to learn. We recommend you invest in a skateboard that is a “popsicle” shape. Subsect Skate Shop is a partner with Skate DSM, they have quality skateboards and safety gear available for purchase. They are located at 309 E. Walnut St. There are other Skate Shops in the region that can also provide quality equipment.

Although they seem like a good deal, mass-produced skateboards from department stores will make it harder for your child to roll, gain speed, and turn. They can also add to the risk of falls due to an inability to properly steer or roll. We HIGHLY recommend investing in a higher quality board.

Helmets should fit snugly on the head, without flopping around.

PARKING

The north end of the skatepark is under construction for a new parking lot, our best advice for parking and entering the park would be to park on the street on Robert D. Ray Dr on the East side of the river. Then walk/skate across the Women of Achievement Bridge and enter the park from the South. Or you can find street parking on the west side of the river and enter the park from the south.

The Brady Martens Memorial Skateboarding Scholarship

This scholarship was created to remember and honor Brady by providing skateboarding clinics and equipment for younger generations. If interested in a scholarship for our Day Camps please email Cheryl Stillman with a message about why your student would like a scholarship.
